Hot Winter Nights
Since I’m Canadian, Christmas automatically comes with lots and lots of snow. If there’s no snow on the ground, it just doesn’t feel like Christmas. But when I moved to the United
Arab Emirates (you know where Dubai is, right?), I discovered a whole new kind of Christmas. Sure, it’s an Islamic country, so Christmas isn’t an official holiday or anything, but there are so many Westerners who work there that Christmas has taken on a life of its own. Although there’s no snow on the ground, and all you need to wear in the evening in December is a light jacket, there are Christmas trees in the malls (there are even Santa’s in the malls) and
Christmas decorations appear in a whole lot of places (but especially in those malls!) One year there was a huge—and I mean two-story high—snowman in front of the Marina Mall. At the Emirates Palace Hotel one year, I saw the most  expensive Christmas tree in the world! It was worth eleven million dollars and garnished with valuable necklaces and other kinds of jewelry. Impressive! It’s great to know that no matter where you go, Christmas is always there. And if you really, really miss the feel of the icy cold, you can always go to Ski Dubai, an indoor ski slope. Dubai has it all!

Being a Canadian, I understand the association between snow and Christmas. Ironically, I too may be moving to a location that although does get snow in some regions, is predominantly not known for it. Since winter is my favourite time of year, this may prove to be an interesting change of pace. Good to know us Canucks really can live without the snow this time of the year.

Hey! I'm actually spending the holidays with my husband here in Dubai - he works here and we live in the Marina, walking distance from the Marina Mall! I'll be on the lookout for that Christmas Tree!

Dubai sounds beautiful. I would have loved to see the 11 million dollar Christmas tree. I can only imagine the beauty. LOL @ indoor skiing. I live in Indiana and although we haven't had much snow the past couple of years, it can be 60 one day and negative 10 that night! Crazy weather.

Thanks so much for the great giveaway and being a part of this amazing hop.

Happy Holidays,

I miss the snow, where we are living right now it is hit or miss whether there is snow. It just isn't Christmas for me if there isn't snow.

I live in Massachusetts. I love snow for the holidays but then it can disappear. If flamethrowers were legal to have, I wouldn't hesitate to get one. Great way to get rid of the snow all at once.

Happy Holidays!

A hot winter night to me is either sitting by the fire snuggling under a soft comfy throw just talking or watching a movie with the love of your life…that is heaven! I live in WA state where we can sometime get snow. It's not a big thing for me to have it around. I grew up in the south.

Thanks for the opportunity to share, meet new authors and perhaps snag new books to read.

In West Virginia we normally get snow for christmas. But since I am not a fan of cold and snow I'm glad when it doesn't show up. My brother lives in SC and he misses the snow, saying it's not the same
